SOCIAL MEDIA CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Social Media: A Double-Edged Sword - Social media can be both a positive and negative platform. While sharing constructive comments, achievements, and photos is encouraged, harmful actions like bullying, criticism, sexist remarks, and spreading negative content can damage individuals' reputations and the image of the sport. Always be mindful of the impact your posts can have.
2. No Negative Comments About Others - Never use social media to criticize teammates, coaches, officials, administrators, volunteers, or spectators. Remember that everything you post can potentially be viewed by millions. Before posting any comment, ask yourself:
Would I want millions of people to read something negative about me?
3. Assume Your Words Will Be Seen - Anything shared online can be viewed by more people than you expect. Even if a conversation seems private, it’s never fully secure. Always consider that the person you’re discussing may see your comments, and you may be the one who faces negative consequences if the content is inappropriate.
4. Promote Positivity - Social media should be used to celebrate the successes of teammates, players, and the entire club. Sharing positive moments, team achievements, and individual performances helps promote a supportive atmosphere. Encourage and embrace positive content that highlights the hard work of everyone involved in junior football.
5. Respect is Key - Show respect to others online just as you would on the field. Your online behavior should reflect the same level of respect and sportsmanship expected in a game. Treat everyone with dignity and kindness.
6. When in Doubt, Leave It Out - If you're unsure about whether something is appropriate to post, it's best to err on the side of caution and not share it. If in doubt, leave it out!
7. Do Not Tolerate or Condone Poor Behaviour - Never accept or encourage negative behavior on social media. If you observe inappropriate conduct, speak up. Remind others of their responsibilities online, and make sure they know that actions will be taken against inappropriate behavior. In the case of minors breaching this code, report it to Club Officials immediately.
8. Be Aware of Consequences - Negative online behavior, such as bullying, demeaning comments, or defamation, can have far-reaching consequences. If you engage in inappropriate conduct regarding the club or junior football, you may face disciplinary action, including suspension or even a tribunal hearing. Serious breaches may also be reported to the Queensland Police.
9. Your Social Media is Your Personal Brand - What you post online reflects who you are and how others perceive you. Ensure that your social media presence aligns with your values and how you wish to be seen in real life. Think twice about the content you share — be it photos, updates, or comments.
Defamation & False Statements: Defamation in any form, whether verbal, written, or through images, is strictly prohibited. This includes making false or damaging statements about individuals, the club, or the sport. Defamatory content undermines the integrity of the club and can result in serious consequences.
Please Note: If any breach of the Bethania Rams FC Social Media Code of Conduct is found, the appropriate action will be taken by the Club Committee.
